New Youth 4

A Chinese-created pressure group, Free the New Youth 4!, has been set up to agitate for the freedom of four young Chinese.

On May 28, 2003, Jin Haike, Xu Wei, Yang Zili and Zhang Honghai were sentenced to between eight and ten years for the crime of “subverting state power.” Their charges stemmed from a small, informal discussion group they’d formed and dubbed the “New Youth Study Group” in order to debate ways in which China could further progress and prosper.
