Racist Progressives and the Denial of Human Rights
By Curt on Mar 26, 2008 in Flood the Jail with Mail, Racism
There’s an interesting discussion going on over at ReadWriteWeb’s post on our Flood the Mail with Jail campaign. A number of people have succeeded in combining racism with political correctness to damn with both hands. In this case the racial animus is against Egyptians, though one may presume, any of our “little brown brothers” would fit in a pinch. The Egyptians, you see, have a culture that makes them little better than beasts.
This overt racism is then given a gloss with a professed “respect” for “culture.” (As though culture were the standard and humanity a “construct,” instead of the other way around.)
Egyptian culture, this argument goes, is the culture of beasts. It is a “culture” of rape and murder and other violences. “Our” culture (that of human rights, free speech, respect for women) is not appropriate for them. We must “respect” them by allowing them to act as their culture dictates. (Who are we to say their bestial ways are inferior to our advanced ones?)
It is a marvelous combination of outright racism with faux-respectful culture-worship.
Well, guess what? I’ve checked with the people involved - Arabs, black Africans, “that kind of people.” Turns out, they do not believe that free speech and respect for the worth of the human soul is a “Western cultural invention.” They believe they are human fucking rights. And they believe they are good enough to merit them.
So, would those of you engaged in this kind of hateful sophism do us all a favor? When you wish to express your racism, would you go ahead and grow a pair and spit it right out, so that even the soft of brain can recognize you? Or, if you lack the self-possession to do that, would you mind terribly just staying the hell out of the way?

When I read this “discussion” I got really angry at these guy with their pseudo-respectful master race attitude.
But I didn’t write it down. It’s useless. You could as well try to convince Hosni Mubarak to step down by citing the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

The cultural relativists’ argument that liberal democracy is only superior to theocracy in the West is (as French philosopher Pascal Bruckner has aptly put it): “a racism of the anti-racists.” These Westerners claim for themselves the inherent and inalienable rights to “bear the burdens of liberty, of self-invention, of sexual equality” while they condemn Muslims to the life envisioned for them (and eventually us too) by the Islamists with all the “joys of archaism, of abuse as ancestral custom, of sacred prescriptions, forced marriage, the headscarf and polygamy” which that entails. These same misguided Westerners claim that freedom, democracy, peace, equality and human rights are just a matter of “perception.” Apparently, there is no difference between jihadis and those who fight them, or between liberated and exploited women.
To euphemize and justify such vile notions by way of rationalization and moral equivocation is to excuse the inexcusable.
