UPDATE: Both Generación Y and its host, Desde Cuba, are functioning again.
***
Ellery Biddle, from the University of Chicago, writes to let us know that Yoani Sánchez’s blog, Generación Y, a major voice in the nascent Cuban blogosphere, is down. The host site, Desde Cuba (From Cuba) is also down. My understanding is that the site itself is run outside the country, Spain, I believe. If anyone can give us any information on the state of things, please do.
Generación Y has been blocked inside Cuba since last March. Another Desde Cuba blog, Potro Salvaje, has been blocked internally since last July.

I am trying to know why. In her twitter @yoanisanchez (real & confirmed) she did not say anything about.
This was bound to happen: that Yoani´s pithy comments on daily life in a parched environment of repression would be blocked, chopped to pieces, made to disappear.
Our hope is that her blog will find a way to continue posting her truth and her courage.
Generacion Y has benn under construction for about three or four weeks now. That’s the real cause for the site not to be funtioning right now.
