The left is Google's search results in China and on the right it's how an unfiltered view would be.
Click on the image above (or here) to see the full size. On the right we see what results would display when a Google image sercher in China searches for “tiananmen square protest” and on the left we see what someone would see without the government mandated filter. That is interesting. As an Internet Filtering company owner, I would be interested in seeing what heuristic engine they used to decipher photos. Because the content of photos is not “known” to a computer engine, they must use tags or titles, or perhaps even color analysis. In addition there are probably some Geo-Filters put in place to screen out non-censored geo areas, just a guess.
