In its never-ending pursuit of complete elimination of dissent, Iran is introducing a law to murder bloggers. Cyrus Farivar, preparing an story of The World radio program, sent us a note with a link to this story on iAfrica.

Malachi O’Doherty, a freelance journalist from Belfast, reports on his blog that Alan Murray “is facing charges of harassment for writing about public figures on his blog.”

Arthur Bright, a student, wrote an interesting essay on the WIA Report, asserting that the distinction between being arrested for blogging and being a blogger who got arrested was not perfectly observed.

Human Rights Watch (via Sokari on our CPB Facebook Causes page) gives an account of another beating by Egyptian police. (I wish I had more time, or help, to do more original reporting on these issues, but, well, I don’t, so with apologies to HRW, I’m posting an edited version of their report.)

Yoanni Sánchez’s Generación Y blog has been blocked within Cuba, according to USA Today’s On Deadline blog (via Reuters).
This is the most prominent of the first generation of Cuba’s blogs. It reportedly got 1.2 million visitors, especially after media in the U.S., France and elsewhere started writing about it.
